New life between Romans and Cathedral

The New Old Town is located in the heart of Frankfurt and brings fresh life to the historic city centre.

When everyone pulls together and the citizens of a city get involved in their hearts affairs, then something special comes into being. Frankfurts Old Town with its successful mixture of old and new on a historic city plan is the best example of this.

Historic alleys, romantic squares, picturesque courtyards and magnificent patrician houses - until its destruction in the Second World War, Frankfurt had retained the structures of an old city that had grown over centuries.

Now, however, a total of 35 houses have been created on the historical ground plan of the city with great attention to detail. 15 creative replicas and 20 new buildings, which take up typical stylistic elements of Frankfurts Old Town, grow together in a successful mixture of old and new to form a residential quarter typical of the Old Town.

Around 200 people will find a new home in the approximately 60 apartments and townhouses in the old town. Café, butchers shop, restaurant, flower shop and a pharmacy are just around the corner. Small shops and cosy pubs will enliven the new quarter and complement the offerings of the surrounding shops.

The colourful life and hustle and bustle in the pubs, at the merchants and in the handicraft businesses attracted many visitors to the quarter between the cathedral and the Romans even then. Since the middle of 2018, the city of Frankfurt has been bringing this special attitude to life with the New Old Town back to the heart of Frankfurt.
